Sveučilište u Rijeci podržava napredak znanosti i širenje znanja u korist društva usvajanjem praksi otvorenog, ponovljivog i odgovornog istraživanja, temeljeći svoj razvoj i usmjerenje na relevantnim nacionalnim i dokumentima Europske Unije, te čvrsto podupirući stav da znanstvene informacije i istraživački podaci koji su proizvod znanstvenih aktivnosti financiranih javnim sredstvima moraju imati otvoreni pristup, te donosi Politiku otvorene znanosti.
